Dragon School
About
The Dragon is a co-educational day and boarding school in Oxford which offers an outstanding educational experience for both boys and girls from 4 to 13 years.
Our distinctive approach encourages inquiry, confidence and enthusiasm among our pupils. Recognised as individuals, pupils are encouraged to try everything and develop the confidence to express themselves. Highly qualified staff foster a culture of how to learn which promotes academic, sporting and creative excellence. A broadly non-selective school, our pupils achieve numerous scholarships and awards to leading senior schools.
Intellectual and philosophical challenge underpins an expansive academic curriculum, a wonderful programme of sport and an extraordinarily creative programme of music, drama and art. Our superb facilities, first-class teaching and open space for both sport and play allows children to develop their unique gifts and talents.
“We chose the Dragon because it combined excellent academic qualities in a co-educational environment with an extraordinary offering of extra-curricular activities” Parents
We pride ourselves on providing a safe and happy environment in which to learn. With an informality that builds trust and allows children to develop a sense of responsibility and respect for others, pupils are helped to become well-rounded, confident, independent and motivated. Boarding options start from age 8, in small, family run boarding houses.
Dragons go onto a vast range of senior schools including Eton, Winchester, Wycombe Abbey, Radley, Cheltenham Ladies College, St Edward’s Oxford, Harrow, Marlborough College and many more.
The Headmaster, Dr Crispin Hyde-Dunn will be speaking on the topic 'How hard is too hard to push your child' during the Independent Schools Show on Saturday 10th November at 12.00pm, alongside Eve Jardine-Young of Cheltenham Ladies College.
Dr Crispin Hyde-Dunn joined the Dragon in September 2017. Prior to this he spent six years as Head of Abingdon Preparatory School and before that was Deputy Head Academic at King’s College School in Cambridge. Over a twenty year teaching career Crispin has taught in a range of day and boarding schools, including six years as Head of History at New College School, Oxford.
